A brat. Though she once was human, she no longer communicates in words. She resents the palace she's bound to, although she can't remember why, and travels as frequently as she can. She's not necessarily kind, and not necessarily cruel - fittingly, she's quite hedonistic, and prioritizes only her own fun. This fun does not take anyone else's opinions into account.
Mu-gui feels trapped by her boundary, and doesn't spend time there if she can help it. She enjoys the conservatory because she retains power there while still having the freedom to roam. She's extremely energetic, and can often be found running/floating around as she pleases.
She's rarely glimpsed at home, but those who've seen her in her boundary (the extensive gardens of an ancient Chinese palace) call her 木鬼 (Mu-gui, the wood ghost), and that's the only name she really uses.
For artists: She has a snapdragon on her forehead (you may draw this in bloom or dead, although the default state is in bloom), six branches of osmanthus sticking out of her body (which you may draw with or without leaves/flowers), and a number of snapdragon seed pods (which I've affectionately nicknamed screaming babies) floating around her. She is about the height of a shiba inu, so she's larger than she appears. Please keep in mind that she lacks nature features outside of the developed biome or the conservatory.
As of the freshwater event, Mugui has also obtained forehead whiskers.

Relationships
110 - chicken queen - A fellow trespasser. As long as Mugui lets her have time to herself sometimes, they have fun together. 110 tends toward the vicious, at times, but Mugui has no objection to it: the results can be hilarious.
108 - Blaise - Blaise is kind and giving, and, Mugui thinks, a sucker for cute esk like herself. She's a good perch.

A Change in Routine
There was not much that Gloam was afraid of.
No. Correct that, because it was not a worthy thought. Gloam did not know what fear was: it was a concept entirely alien to him. So he would say, to some esk who asked, anyway, even if - as someone like Ikkit might claim - this was not entirely true. So he was an esk, and before that, he'd been a mushroom, and when he was a mushroom, he'd never known how to fear anything. It should follow that the same was true now, right?
And yet. And yet.
There was another esk sometimes, who passed by his territory, slow and lumbering and strong, with an entourage of creatures. A loud bird, a toad that sung, a
Chapter 4: To Trespass
He finds that it's a meditative place. There are others here - the forest is crowded, and unlike desert-dwellers, forest inhabitants do not make hiding their most frequent habit, as long as they don't detect predators. It probably helps that it's difficult to see him behind the rock, and that, as an Esk, his presence carries no animal's scent to those powerful noses. Every so often someone comes to take a drink and retreat back into the trees where it's cooler.
This is the sort of activity he's happy to spy on, while he's submerged and lazy. Each creature approaches differently, stays for a longer or a shorter time - and then they leave agai
Chapter 3: Into the Spray
The stream, it turns out, twists and turns a lot. After the first few of them he pulls himself upward and pushes his head out of the water, just to see where he's headed. Nothing much changes up there, though - a little breeze shuffles through his fur, which is heavier with water, and the sun falls in a pretty dappled pattern, due to the trees' leaves, which are a little closer to the ground, around the stream, and cast more distinctly-shaped shadows. Then he resolves to keep swimming onward.
It's harder than he'd think (water is strong, for one, and for another, it feels like fresh waters - even more distant from his arid home than the fore
